What are MycoBloom endomycorrhizal fungi?
MycoBloom fungi are endomycorrhizal soil symbionts called arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Roughly 85% of plants belong to families that associate with endomycorrhizal fungi. "Endomycorrhizal" translates from latin roots to mean "fungi within roots." Mycorrhizal fungi can improve plant growth, yield and soil quality by
•Transporting phosphorous and nitrogen and other nutrients from soil
•Collecting water from the soil
•Providing resistance from plant herbivores
•Improving drought tolerance
•Decreasing soil erosion
However, many potting soils do not include mycorrhizal fungi, and gardening, landscaping and restoration environments may have ineffective soil fungi due to moving, tillage or human caused change. Never fear, we have fungi to share!
